I Commit To Pray For Persecuted Christians

“I commit to pray for persecuted Christians” is a campaign and commitment to stand with the unsung Champion Christians of our time who are silently, yet bravely living out their Christianity in the face of oppression, torture, and death.

Champions come in many packages. Some are moms and dads who sacrifice for their kids, some are students who standup for their faith to their peers and teachers, some go to the less fortunate and minister to their needs, some use their businesses to resource the kingdom of God so the local church can be a strong voice to our community and world. For all of those we must commit to pray.

Others are Champions for Christ and heroes of the faith because they live under horrendous religious oppression, and have had no choice but to rise to the occasion in the face of terror and death.  They are the ones around the world who suffer the worst of human atrocities simply because they are Christians, and they desperately need you and I to say, “I Commit To Pray”.

Everyday, include these brave Christians in your prayers that they continue to have the supernatural strength to refuse to renounce their faith in Jesus Christ, even to the point of death or worse.  Pray for miracles of salvation for their captors and persecutors, and pray for the battle to be won through Jesus Christ.

Champion Church is joining with to keep these Champions of faith in prayer, and to hold them up before God as they face untold dangers and hardships.

“I Commit To Pray” is a connection point created by “The Voice of The Martyrs” ( to tell the stories of these heroes of faith and to connect us, the ‘free’ church, to the reality of what our brothers and sisters in Christ experience everyday.

Hebrews 13:3 Remember those in prison, as if you were there yourself. Remember also those being mistreated, as if you felt their pain in your own bodies.

The war against Christianity is raging both here and around the world, by ruthless and relentless wolves, and yet the message of love and forgiveness shines in the faces of Persecuted Champions. I strongly encourage you to add “I Commit To Pray” to your commonly visited sites, and receive their updates so you can do your part to hold up the hands of those paying a heavy cost for their faith. Your connect group should take a suggested story from “I Commit To Pray” each week, and pray for them everyday.

Using Your Social Influence

Using your social influence for Jesus.

I remember reading a while back that the United States became a leader in the global economy during the 1900’s because it capitalized on cross-country commerce and communication through the transcontinental railroad. It was the information superhighway of it’s day.

Zip forward to today and the same concepts are at play. Countries that are looking for an advantage in our changing world are placing a priority on the internet. It’s today’s way to communicate and do business online. Virtually everyone I know has a smartphone with the internet built in. Statistically I know they will spend a double-digit amount of time online on any given day. I think it’s a safe assumption that a high percentage of that time will be spent on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. People spend their time on Social media. It’s the most communication oriented thing to do online. Read More

Enlarging Our Territory!

1 Chronicles 4:10 (NIV)
Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request.

I’m so excited to announce that God is “enlarging our territory” as we launch the first Sunday of our new Champion Extension Service to be held at the Yuma Palms RV Resort.  Our vision is to see many extension services birthed over the coming year, both in our city and beyond.  These services will take Champion into the neighborhoods and communities of Yuma and other cities, and extend our ministry’s reach to so many more people with the unconditional life-giving message of Jesus Christ.

Halloween at Champion!

By | church-in-yuma-arizona, Food for thought, Outreach, Uncategorized | 3 Comments

“If we don’t give these kids something to do on a night like Halloween then we’re gonna loose them all to the world, and in the end the devil will win”

My mom (Miss Marilyn) said this at a Church meeting back in the early 70’s.
She was the leader over all the Sunday School’s departments at our Church and asked to
to have a meeting with all the Church leaders who were up against what to do with the “devil’s’ holiday (which happened to be on a Wednesday night and that was Church night.)

Back in those days if you were a Christian you were against the whole Halloween thing and I mean… hatefully against it!
My mom was fully prepared with a plan when the leaders said, “well what can we do?”
She set out a plan.

I want to inspire people. I want someone to look at me and say, ‘Because of you, I didn’t give up.’

It was so encouraging to see this Instagram post from @laur3ncraft! I wanted to share it with those who inspire me the most in life… You, the Champion!!

It’s SO important for us to stop and pause, taking a moment to reflect on the BLESSING and INSPIRATION we are in the lives of others. “YOU” ARE A TRUE BLESSING and “YOU” INSPIRE MANY!!!

Today Pastor Stephen and I were out at the Pumpkin Patch and seeing all the orange tee-shirts was an incredible sight. Of course the Champion Volunteers were in full form as they prepared to lead little ones from station to station.
