It’s Refreshing to be Refreshing
Refreshing - Pastor Stephen and myself have gone to Living Word Bible Church this weekend to attend their Leadership, Pastors, and Worship conference called ‘FX Rise 2013’. It’s always great to be able to take some time to get a refreshing trip away for a few days and get your heart realigned with your visions and passions God placed in your heart. I have found that you can easily find yourself living in a bubble in life. I remember being in college a couple years ago in Australia and being surrounded in what we called the ‘Hillsong bubble’. Our bubble consisted of Church, Home, and Coles; the local grocery store. Luckily for us, all were located in walking distance. – You get the legs of a marathon runner from the crazy hills we lived in and if you were blessed to have a means of transportation, (for me it was a longboard) your life was subject to the grace of gravity. And every pebble on the road that gave you a sure death ride every time to started down those long hills. We would get up, go get coffee, go to class, go get coffee, go to class, go to lunch, go to Coles, get coffee, go to class, go home, eat roman noodles, pray for a car, go to bed, wake up, do it again. Life was good. Sound familiar? But I remember being told by my teachers to do everything I could to get out of the bubble and have some fun. Go to the city and hang out with friends! Step outside the norm.
I believe God has designed us to be refreshed. The bible says to ‘Renew your mind daily.’ I know in the current season I’m in that I cannot afford to not continually be being refreshed. I bet where ever you’re at right now, you could use some refreshing! Have you ever been on a vacation, maybe San Diego, hung out with the family for a week or two, have an awesome time and get home and be so tired, you need a vacation from your vacation? We have this idea that when you change your location, you change your situations. But I will be the first to tell you, changing your location doesn’t change your character. When I left for college, I quickly learned that there are many people out there who far out way me in many areas and without my abilities to fall back on, the only thing left was my character. Through that I learned who I am, what I’m made of, and what I can do threw the power of God. Then I learned that without some refreshing, I started losing sight of those promises, the visions, and passions God placed in my heart a long time ago.
Casey treat just spoke a word here at the conference about Hope. He said, ‘those who are hopeless are helpless’. Have you ever found yourself helpless? Nothing you do counts, nothing works, the successful plan you were on lost steam, and to top it off you stubbed your toe this morning. What I found was that if I’m not being refreshed, if I’m not taking some time to focus on the plan God placed in my heart, I will grow closer and closer to hopelessness, My character gets out of whack and my abilities suffer to carry the weight of God’s vision. So I say this: get Refreshed! there will still be a report tomorrow. There will still be a task in the morning. But vision lost and passions fizzed out reaps hopelessness.
I encourage you that where ever you’re at today to get refreshed! Carry in your heart a refreshing spirit! The difference between a person with hope and a person without hope is the decision to choose to focus on your hope! Take some time to focus on your hope. Get your vision reset! Revive your passions. They haven’t left you, they haven’t forsaken you. You’ve forsaken them! You light the fire! 2 Timothy 1:6-7 says ‘For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands.  For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.’ Fan into flame the spirit God gave you! It’s Refreshing to be refreshing. so go be refreshing! You may just have someone be refreshed by your refreshing presence!
That’s all for now. Don’t forget to give God a victory praise every once in a while!
Time to pay attention to Pastor John Bevere’s message 🙂
