It All Began With A Family

 “The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs — heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ” (Romans 8:16–17)

1)  God Loves (Your) _______________

  • Jesus was born-  not appeared

  • Mother Teressa, when asked how to change the world said, go home and raise a family

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.  Isaiah 9:6

  • Mary was a teenaged pregnant daughter – the most famous scandal in history
  • Jesus wasn’t born into an existing traditional family…

But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. 31 You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. 32 He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33 and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.”  Luke 1:30-35

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will— Ephesians 1:3-5  (NIV)

3)  Jesus is a _______________ of your family (sits at your table)

  • He doesn’t judge or criticize
  • He lives in the love, the power to overcome adversity, to forgive, to connect soul to soul, eye to eye, heart to heart
  • He’s the reason to forgive, to commit, to keep the family strong
